The TOEFL is a test of English as a foreign language that is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). It is widely accepted by colleges and universities in the United States as well as other English-speaking countries. Many institutions use the TOEFL score as one factor in their admission decisions.

The TOEFL test consists of four sections: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. Each section is designed to measure different aspects of your English language ability. The Reading and Writing sections are combined into a single score on a scale of 0-30. The Listening and Speaking sections are each scored on a scale of 0-30, for a total possible score of 120.

Most colleges and universities will consider your TOEFL score along with other factors, such as your GPA, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. Some institutions may have higher TOEFL score requirements for certain programs or majors.

The TOEFL is offered in both an IBT format ( administered via the internet) and a PBT format (administered via paper). The IBT format is offered more often than the PBT, so it is important to check with your institution to see which format they require.

If you are planning to take the TOEFL, there are a few things you can do to prepare. First, make sure you are familiar with the format of the test and the types of questions that will be asked. There are a number of practice tests available online and in print. Second, brush up on your English skills. If you are not a native English speaker, consider taking an ESL class or working with a tutor. Finally, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to prepare. The TOEFL is not a test that can be studied for overnight.
